2000 c5 headlight question
Installed aftermarket H.I.D setup on 2000 c5 vette and headlights go up but they wont go down. Anybody had the same problem?
Put the stock bulbs back in and they work fine.

Looking at the schematics it looks like the same power supply opens and closes the head lights so I do not think it is a fuse. I had the same problem with the first set of HIDs I installed. The transformer for the HIDs did not have as much resistance as the standard head light. Due to the difference in resistance the headlight opening door actuator control module did not get a signal from the bcm that the lights were off and therefore would not close the doors. Turning on the high beams was the only way I could get the doors to close
This was a fairly common problem with the early HIDs but I thought it had been corrected. I would call the manufacture.

Hmmm....I would call the manufacturer, but I had purchased them a few months ago and discarded the information, sadly.
I wonder if anyone has ever had and fixed this problem. I'd like to get my HID's installed .
Fuse is not blown. HID's were removed and stock was put back in and they function 100% normal again.

I have the twilight sentinel option, where the headlights operate (on and off) on their own depending on the light outside.
Could that be damaging the wiring/headlights by going onto the brights and then turning it off? Do you have HID hibeams too? I'm not using HID hibeams..

No, I only have HID Low Beams. I don't see any reason for the wiring/headlights to be damaged by flipping your high beams on prior to lowering.
Why don't you just disable your twilight sentinal option, re-install your HIDs, and start enjoying them???

When I put in my ACA HID's, I also purchased a relay harness. The car senses if a light bulb is out and won't close the headlight doors. It senses the resistance/voltage (electrical load) across the bulb. The HID's have a different resistance than the stock bulbs, so the car thinks the bulb is burnt out. The relay harness is used in a fashion that the coil of the relay is plugged into where the stock bulbs used to connect to. This relay coil represents the same electrical load to the system as the stock bulbs would. This makes the car think the stock bulbs are working. The HID lights themselves are powered from the battery, across the relay contacts, to the HID bulbs.
Bottom line: you need to install a relay harness also. HTH

AHHH! Relay Harness! Excellent! Where do I find one of those? As far as "disabling my twilight sentinel option", it's gonna hafta be a last ditch effort..i'm in love with how my car will turn on and off by itself like that, and if this harness will be the fix, then SCORE!!
EDIT: Just did a little looking, I forgot what my low beams were for the relay harness. It runs power to the HID from the battery? Won't that make a mess of wires under the hood? Either way, it's still a great option...but what does this do to the draw on the battery?

Go to this page
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...ys/relays.html
and scroll down about half way to the section titled HOW TO SOLVE VOLTAGE DROP it explains it a little better and you can get the relays from there. Or just go to an electronics distributor and get them.
