I get a low oil light on my 2001 convertable with standard transmission every ~800 - 1000 miles. The light goes out after I add a quart or 1.5 quarts. Does anyone else experience this?
Any engine will use some oil, but a quart every 800 to 1,000 miles should be looked into. You could have an oil leak from a bad gasket, or you could be burning oil because it is getting past the piston rings or valve guides. Have the engine inspected.

Some 2001 Corvettes, especially those equipped with manual transmissions, had oil consumption issues caused by low tension piston rings.
After verifying actual oil consumption, GM dealers will replace the rings on engines that consume more than 1 qt. of oil per 1000 miles.
In your case, a qt. of oil in 800 - 1000 miles is close to the Gm "acceptable range". I would just leave it alone, and get in the habit of checking the oil level more frequently.
