Default Floppy headlight

On my trip home from work tonight one of my headlights started waving in the breeze.Time for new gears or...?

You might have lost the nut that tightens on to the motor bracket, that enables it to go up and down, or it might have loosened up, had that happen to me. If I remember correctly look under the headlight towards the radiator side of the car and you should see a few nuts, one of those (upper center one I think) should attach to the headlight motor I believe. Compare it to the other side and hopefully you can tell which one is loose or missing. Best I can do from memory right now, sitting at work.

Sometimes part of the plastic will crack causing the body panel cover to move/shimmy but not the actual headlight frame.

Check the pin that connects the motor arm to the headlight frame. If the pin's lock washer pops off as mine did a few years ago the pin will partially slip out of place causing the headlight to move as you describe. If you look at the motor arm from the back of the headlight with the hood up you should see where it connects the the pin (~ 2" long).
