Hi,
Ive been reading and found alot of various info on shifters for manual c5s and 6s. I was wondering which is the overall "best" for feel, sound, and less issues.
Thanks!

I was going to suggest you do a search as this has been asked and answered...and debated thousands of times.
Since you've been doing some reading, you must have realized there is no clear cut winner of the best shifter. What's the best headers, what's the best CAI, what's the best cat back, what's the best tire, what's the best spark plugs, what's the best oil/filter, yada, yada, yada.
It's to subjective.
You could do what many owners do...buy one at a good used price and try it out. If you don't like it, sell or trade it off for another manufacturer. You might get lucky and find the first one to be to your liking. I did.
first and foremost. If you want to get a general all around point of view do a search on shifter in the C5 forum. You will find a lot of information.
To sum it up (as I have already done this more then a few times)(searching and comparing that is). The overall consensus is this.
Rated:
1) MGW
2) C6Z06 (very close race between this and the MGM)
3) B&M
4) Hurst (again very close between this and the B&M, HOWEVER, a very large step down from the MGW and C6Z06 shifter when it comes to overall ratings. (these 2 shifters are more geared for someone who wants a short throw but doesn't really care about how tough it is to get into gear. They are good positive shifters but require more effort.
5) Shortened stock shifter with or without anti venom mod. (some people like the feel of a stock shifter but don't want to pay for a C6Z06 shifter. This is an excellent alternative if COST is an issue for you. This is basically a free mod and all you need to do the anti-venom mod is a washer. (find instructions in the seach function)

Yah, kinda like I said - ive been searching. Its one of those things that there is SO many threads on this, it would be nice for a stickied pros and cons shifter thread. (just my opinion of course).
I had a B&M shifter ordered from Corvettes of Houston, and because of a comupter error, it never was shipped. So Im going to order something else as I read some more (like I said too much info) that was saying the B&M wasnt the way to go. So.....before I place another order, I figured Id ask.
Thanks!

Yup, I agree - it seems to be the consensus. So with that let me ask, is it a drop in and go shifter? Or do I have to do the venom mod or adjust it? From the postings Ive read - it seems like its just and awesome shifter.

Well, I "attempted" to buy it from them. I pllaced the order last Sat and recieved 1 conformation email immediately. So after not seeing it all week I called Scott - who seemed real nice, and he said that due to my shipping info not being entered (which I checked - it was), he couldnt ship the part as I wasnt charged for the shipping - understandable. He said he sent numerous emails - which I never did get (unlike the first order conformation) telling me about this problem.
At this point I just cancelled the order - he seemed happy to do so, and the search continued.
In my wait I was researching the shifter and noted certain problems listed with getting it into gear and having to modify the detent to make it work. I also read other postings on the MGW and the Hurst, so thats why I figured Id ask.
Anyhow, I just ordered from MGW - $5.00 overall more, but from what I read it will be worth it.
So thats my story.

Hi..I upgraded the stock shifter in my 00 Coupe with the C6 Z06 shifter and am very happy with it....Much more positive shifts, shorter shifts, slightly shorter than the stock C5 as well....
great improvement..
