First, I would like to say that you folks have been a tremendous help with your input and feedback on various C5 topics...what product, how to, how much, etc. Afterall...you are the first hand users and I appreciate what you have to say.
My tire change time is NOW! I feel very lucky to get 31k miles on the original GY runflats on my 99 vert. Not happy with it, but lucky compared to many of you that changed before 20k miles!
From research and your previous posts, I am down to these three choices: BTW, I don't care about runflats one way or the other.. My choices, listed with highest TireRack price (without freight) first are:
1. Michelin Pilot Sport $1166
2. Firestone SZ50-RFT $1020
3. Bridgestone S-03 PP $ 916
Mine is a daily driver with city/hwy driving mixed...dry and wet pavement...no racing.
Both the Michelin and Bridgestone are on backorder. I know opinions are like AHs...everyone has one! But, I am asking for yours!!!
Is this a coin-toss, or is there a clearcut #1 choice?
Thanks in advance for any and all $.02 worth!!!
I would go with the Bridgestone, I have had the Potenza S02s on my last car and they handled awesome and had decent tread wear(15-20k miles). Good Luck.

You mean some people get 20k miles? I just rolled 35k miles and am on my 4th set of rear tires. Doh.
I'm in the same slot as you partner, I've been having a tough time of chosing which tires to go with also. I went to the Firestone dealership so that I could see what the SZ50-RFT's looked liked and really liked how they looked. He qoated me a price of $1400 installed. I told him about the price that Tirerack is offering and he said that he couldn't beat that price. He then went on to say that if I purchased them from Tirerack, who would I be able to get to put them on for me, which led me to believe that he wouldn't. You would think that if they were Firestone's, they would put them on my car. Now I'm going to go and see what the Michelins look like soon. After that I will make my decision on those two brands.
Just an FYI..If you are looking to save a lot of $$$ on your next tire purchase, you might consider the nitto extreme 555's from onlinetires.com. You can get a complete set for 660.00 and the shipping is not bad either. I have heard good things about these tires and should have mine by tomorrow. Then I will have discount tire mount them for 40.00. Will REALLY save me some $$ in the long run! :yesnod:
I got the Firestones and got them cheaper thru local dealer than I could from Tire Rack including mounting/balancing etc....but make sure that they have the equipment to mount 18" rims....my dealer had to take them to other store 5 miles away to mount my rear tires....no biggie but took a little bit longer....oh by the way...I really like these tires....much quieter and better traction than Goodyears.
Hope this helps :)
My vote is for the Firestones.
When I bought my 98 they had just replaced the original tires with a new set of Goodyears (28,000). Talking to a customer at my shop who had recently replaced his with the 'stones. After a short drive with him I replaced mine with the Forestones. Much Quieter, Better dry traction. I don't drive the C5 in the rain. That's what my 86 cavalier wagon is for.
Again, My vote is for the Firestones.
