I've got a 99 with automatic dual climate control. When I go to increase or decrease the temperature, the temp setting will alternate between 76/77. If I wait a little bit and try to adjust the temp again, it may alternate between 77/78. I have no HVAC codes. I searched the threads, found one or two that were very similar, but neither of them identified the cause or a clear solution. Any ideas?
Sounds like a faulty control head. None of the temp or UV sensors have anything to do with the desired temp readout, so you won't see any codes, as it is probably an internal failure not monitored by the PCM. Make sure you turn the dial slowly, as spinning it fast will sometimes freak out the electronics.
This guy used to do repairs on the HVAC heads for a very reasonable price. Might check with him, a $75-$100 warrantied repair could be better than an unknown used one. digitalguy_1@charter.net
I agree with these guys...I had a similar issue plus the power wont turn off (it took awhile)....replaced it with a new one and no more problems. Got my replacement from Gene Culley, a CF vendor.
