Well here goes my first post. I recently aquired a true American art form...a 98' red convertible. I quickly adopted this beauty as my 72' had passed (sold at retirement) ten years earlier. As I was checking out all the typical aliments for this vintage I read that I should have a key for removing the tires under a rear cover. It was missing. Since the TPM system is not completely working either, I thought I should check to see if the lock was on the wheel nuts. Thus my search for this forum and the 5 inch stack of shop manuals..."How to remove the Wheel nut covers". Well, I could not find that anywhere. So today, using a new flat paint stick, I pryed at the edge of the cover and...voila! the cover came off. I hesitate to post a photograph of the paint stick and operation and I don't mean to denegrate at all the wonderful posts with all the pictures...but if some new/old vett owner ever searches for wheel, nut, cover maybe he will find this post and proceed with confidence to uncover that which lies beneath. Vette's forever!

They unscrew like the lug nuts.
Just use a socket, without the rachet, and unscrew them by hand. Don't over tighten when putting them back on.
