getting ready to put my third oil pressure sender on does anyone know why these thing go bad i never heard of oil senders going bad so often is something else causing this problem maybe gauge or ground wire. does anyone know where the sender is grounded?
The oil comes up through the sender and gets into the wire harness. Make sure to spray electrical cleaner into the wire connection until it pours out clear. I was suprised on how much oil came out. Most of the senders are made in Mexico and leak because they use brass. At least that is the theory. Do a search on the forum and you will find the brand that people have had better luck with.
Actually, the ones made in Mexico are alluminum. The original AC Delco's were made of brass. I contacted GM about these failures since the replacements can and will die within minutes to weeks. They said the same thing they told me about the fobs only lasting 7-9 years, they said to contact the dealer.
There is a very long sticky at the top of this Tech Section of the Forum. Most of us having luck with them was by having relocating the sender or modifying things to allow the use of a brass sender for a Buick.
