Re: Help with Reverse Lights... (GTXgp)
Yup, I had this problem within the first year. Had dealer take care of it. He said they "replaced" the back-up light switch. Doubtful. Probably just re-secured a loose connection. Dealers do this kind of thing to GM all the time.
Jack up your car and take a look to see if the connector is loose or off of the switch on the trans. If so just re-connect it. Otherwise let dealer check it.
I have this problem on my '99 manual transmission. It comes and goes and I haven't seen it recently (though it's hard to spot unless you're looking for it). I don't think it's anything as simple as a loose connection based on how sporadically the problem comes and goes. When I notice the lights fail to come on, I repeatedly switch in and out of reverse two or three times. They
eventually come on, though little if anything would have wiggled the connections.
