Many have stated that the KD's are the stickiest tire for dry weather. Today I took a ride in VSTELLA'S car who has the NITTOS and the Billsteins. It was a pretty good ride and I was impressed with the NITTOS especially 'cause I could get them for $761 out the door!
Now I will be making a deciSion between the PROCHARGER and ARE's TT when it is available. Being that I will be getting approximately 440 at the rear with either one of these FI systems, does it really matter which of the two I get even if the KD is truly the stickiest tire? In other words, would it be logical to say that both tires are going to have some hooking issues with the extra HP?
Or is there reason to believe that the KD, even though cost is higher, will be more suitable for the FI application, power, particullarly if I went with the TT because of its extra LOW END power? BTW, anyone have KD's in S Fla?
I was wondering the same thing considering the cost difference. Which would get better traction a set of 275 Nitto 555r's or a set of BFG KD's in a 295?
With your mods, hooking up will be a problem regardless of the tire you choose. I have approx. 375 RWHP and though they are much better than runflats, the Nittos are great, once I get them to stop spinning. Great price though, and on larger sizes, 255/40/17 & 285/35/18.
In this case, it might be better to go with the cheaper tires, since you'll be going thru them regardless. But, I would think it would help a little traction wise going to a slightly bigger tire. I can't comment on the Nitto's but I have the KD's and am very impressed with their traction. I don't have the horsepower level your talking about.
The Nittos and the BFG's are really good tires but if you are mashing the go pedal all the way down on SC'ed or TT'd C5 you will have traction issues regardless.
You might try the F-1 tires that come on the Z06's, but anything less than a drag radial or slicks would be pointless at the drag strip.

Thanks, I guess I should have thrown in the S03's as well. The KD's aren't made in 275 for the Vette rear  295 will be the next option so it becomes an apples and oranges question anyway. Don't know if the 295's will fit on fac rims - I'll also be lowering rear to 1.25 inches so I'll need to know if I decide to purchase them.
As far as mashing on the pedal like you say, most likely not in 1st, but I'll hit in 2cnd or when I down shift to the middle gears.
