My '04 vert has it's factory installed HUD going crazy. The dimmer wont work, the page button will work sometimes. The entire display goes from all signals lit to just speed to gas only back too all lit.
The dealer has it for other reasons so I had them look at it. After 2 hours they have found nothing. They insist that it is a wire or connector and not the unit itself. They want another 8 hours to look. I said no way.
The HUD receives its signals and power from the IP Cluster. There is a single connector from the cluster to it from the top center area of the cluster. You are going to have to pull the cluster to get to it.

Thanks for the tip. The only reason I want the dealer to do it is if it was a WARRANTY fix. A connection or bad wire is not.
The only way to know if the connector is loose is to extract the cluster to find out. In order to get the cluster all the way out, you have to get to that small connector while pulling the cluster. If you don't find it partially disconnected, then put it back together and take it in for warranty repair. Are any other IP Cluster functions not working? Have you checked for DIC Codes?

All other IP functions are fine and no codes at all. Got any links to the removal of the cluster?
I just installed one in my 02 with the same problem up down works sometime and the display cut's in and out of intensity. Switch and display are new and the wiring harness was bought off Ebay. Interested to see what you find mean while I will be disassembling the dash to Ohm things out on the harness.
Use the search function as there is a post with pictures. Essentially, you remove the center console, then the lower knee bolster panel. From there, you remove the two nuts holding the steering column in place so that it will lower a little. You'll be able to see the screws holding in the cluster, two on top and two at the bottom. Once they are out, you pull it out tilting it over towards you. Now the connector you are looking for is at the top of the cluster, a small ribbon connector. If you elect to remove the cluster all the way, you'll need to detach the main cluster connector on the back left side. There are two squeeze clips that hold it on. Caution, when you pull the cluster out, so not lay it on its face or back. Keep it standing up in its normal position wherever you place it.
