Default Intake or Heads???

I was sold on a FAST 92mm system and after justifying the cost and HP gains I am not sure it is worth the upgrade from my stock LS6 system. At this point I think I am better off having the stock system ported and buying a set of low cost heads like TEA. With a $1400 budget what is out there.

Ted

Do yourself a favor and do everything at once. I couldn't afford to put heads/cam and headers so I started collecting parts for over 18 months. If you do intake or heads seperate, you need to tune to get the most out of the mod. Thats about $500 per secession. I waited and found a used set of AFR 205's for $1200. Buy the way, remember that anything quicker than 11.50 requires a roll bar if you drag race.

Good luck.

I assume you are doing a cam if you do heads? If so, Heads all the way. The LS6 set up does pretty well. I was in the same position you were a few years ago. The FastSetup is not worth the money IMO, unless you have a very large cam already, and heads, or head work done. From the information I gathered, the Fast Set up would gain about 20RWHP.. not worth over 1k IMO.

Yes guys I am already cammed and making 429hp to the wheels. I was set to pull the trigger on a fast system and realized that by porting the LS6 and TB I have now I would be flowing enough at my levels. So I figured a decent set of heads to compliment the MTI-G1 I have woould be ideal?

I still would wait until I could do both heads and intake so I would only have to tune once. I would also go back to the cam vendor to see what he recommends for a combo as he knows his cam specifics best. I think a ported fast, with the right heads, will net you 30 over heads alone.

Good luck.

You can always port your ls6 heads and see some great results with that budget.
