Well I did H/C and upgraded the valvetrain of my corvette including lifters..
Now I know of the typical sewing machine noise but there is a certain instance from around 1400-1200 RPMS as the car slows down the ticking is slightly different.
Is this knock, because I don't know the actual noise of knock Im just worried because it is slightly louder at those RPMs.
It is not super loud though as the windows must be up and radio off.

Im new to all the mechanicals but managed to do a bunch, but I have yet to hear a knocking motor, I'm just hoping Im just paranoid because I went on youtube and listened to some videos with engine knock and mine wasn't as loud or violent. Mine is more sewing machine.
Yea I have LG longtubes, and was kinda wondering of it was the collector, because the exhaust note begins changing around 1400-1200RPMs as the car slows also.
Yes pushrods are the correct length. I just don't know if it is paranoia because the difference between the typical valvetrain noise and this occassional tick is just slightly different.
Did the H/C, intake and header change late last year and yes, the mechanical noise from the engine increased, including some very moderate "ticking" at lower RPM. I do have true roller rockers which also tend to make a bit more noise. And, the mechanical noises are more pronounced when the cabin is closed up in my vehicle too. FYI, there was a post within the last two weeks in which the forum member gave a very good common sense comparison of the sound differences of a "tick" and a "knock" -- a search should find that easily. Trust this is useful...
I think it is just the typical ticking sound you get with heads, cam and headers. I first noticed it as well when I got mine done. It is most noticeable at the low RPMs with a small load that is with your foot just about on the gas.
I don't think it is knock because if the knock sensors are doing their job you should never be able to hear it.
If you have headers, they amplify this sound like 10 times over. It sounds like normal valve train chatter to me. I was worried about mine for a while, but it is just normal noise.
I live in the AZ heat and can tell 270 miles isn't local
Just trying to get the guy some help to make him feel more comfortable. Been there myself enought times.

I got news for you sweetie, some guys don't have tuner close to them, and have to drive 270 miles to get work done and have their cars tuned. A supporting tuner offered his help, it's up to the OP if he wishes to make the drive or not. In this case, the OP is not even in town, but it was nice for Frans96SS to offer all the same.
At least you can ease your mind about engine knock. That only occurs under load. Since your tick/knock is during decel, it's not detonation. My car has a very loud wooshing sound that it didn't have before all my mods. I've been kind of worried there's a vacuum leak, but it's probably the thin-walled FAST, and attendant valvetrain noise. It's always something when you mod.

When you say the pushrods are the correct length, how did you determine that? I'm asking just in case the selling vendor gave them to you and said "they're correct" because that doesn't always cut it. Unless you used a pushrod length checker and used it properly, the pushrods are in question.
