I'm lowering the front as far as the fac bolts will allow but I'm going to be lowering the rear just a tad bit more. I know they sell these Rear Lowering Kits. Where can get them? How much are they? Could I purchase generic bolts from the Local Hardware store instead and If I can, what exactly should I be looking for? Or are there any simplicity advantages to just buying the kit?
If you want to waste your money, buy the kits. If you want to get the same results for less than ten dollars, buy them from a local bolt supply store.
7 inch long 9/16 bolts, flat washers, locking nuts. 9/16 bolts are real hard to find in that length, you will find that a very large % of people here are using the 1/2 bolts with absolutely no problems.
My situation is a little different here in Germany so I went and bought the kit with the bushings. This way, I could save the factory bushing if I wanted to.
I will guarantee you one thing, lowering the rear can have a real significant effect on the ride quality. Like you, I have the Z51 and the bouncing, like I had a load of bricks in the back, was very bothersome. I went with the Bilsteins from LAPD and that fixed the problem. One thing I have learned is that you can count on Shawn and LAPD.
Once your car is lowered it is truely amazing how much better it will look. Just an inch and a half makes a difference. Awhile back, I drove my son-in-laws Ruf 911 to the Autocross with him following in the C5. With the lowering and the Breathless non-popup headlights the car looked absolutely menacing in the rearview mirror. The c5 was in back because.... I wanted it that way. :)
By the way, I loved driving the Ruf...... 170K car.... but liked the many refined qualities of the C5 better.

I keep posting and cheering with the beer drinkers.... maybe I have a problem?
:U
If you are only lowering the front bolts all the way down, there is no need to buy longer bolts for the rear. The front won't even drop but about 1/4". If this is all you need, which is fine, just turn the stock back bolts leaving about 2 threads on the back bolts. :yesnod:
I guess I should of said, if you want to save money, not waste money as I think the urethane bushings would be OK to have. Also, if you don't think the front will go down enough for your tastes, then you can follow this link for slamming it into the weeds! :D I did and very, very happy with it!!!! http://www.corvetteforum.cc/techtips...D=90&TopicID=1

Will this technique work with non-Z06's? Just wondering... I would love to lower and will eventually get some Bilstein's...
