I need some help. I have a 2000 A4 coupe. While driving the instrument cluster reset (gages acted like they do when you turn on the key), AC and Radio all cut out very breifly while driving. Over the next couple of miles the same thing happened 3 or 4 times.
I have the following codes BCM B2578 and B2583 (turn signals) and SDM U1096 (loss of comms) I don't think any of the codes have anything to do with the issue.
Has anyone experienced this problem? I've done some searching on the forum, but to no avail and I've run out of alternative search terms... so if anyone can help, I'd be grateful!
Try Bill's find on the door jam accordian tube where there is a wire that tends to short out electrically. He's got pictures posted here in the forum of it.
Thanks for the advice. Of course, I've checked the battery connections and Bill's post will be the weekend project. The good news is... it hasn't happened again. The bad news is, I have no idea why.
Do you have a heavy keychain on the ignition key ..... if so, I'd recommend you reduce the weight and have only your fob on your ignition key. The weight, over time, can also cause problems with the lock cylinder.
Keep an eye on your voltage too. I had a similar problem and I was trouble shooting for over a month. What was happening was my IPC's voltage was reading way to high.. and when it would jump over 17v it shutsdown the IPC to protect it. The voltage wasnt really running that high.. the gauge was just reading it wrong. I ended up having to replace the IPC all together to fix it.
