I'm trying to absorb as much info as I can about Cams, so I started pulling out the back issues of some mags.
GMHTP ran a story on their ARE Heads/Cam Silver 98 Z28 that included the use of the "ARE REV-KIT" that allowed safe operation up to 6700 RPM. Basically, the kit applies spring pressure to the lifter by squeezing a sprung pair of billet plates into the lifter valley. This prevents the lifter from the leaving the cam lobe and floating the valves. Does anyone know anything about this?
Yes, I have used one. It worked fine. Helps keep the lifters in their bore to a greater extent on hi revs and roller cam. Less chance of a float when your spinning hi and the vavletrain builds momentum to go the other way.
I am running a 6800 RPM fuel cutoff on my 2001 with dual valve springs (MTI), hardened rods, stock rockers, 'big' valves, and a 222 .566 cam. No issues.
Sure is nice having the added range up in the power band.
