Default Flow Numbers: Intake/Head Combos

The following I found very interesting regarding the flow character of some popular C5 Intake/Head Combos...GMHTP May 2001

Intake/Head Flow@ Lift .200 .300 .400 .500 .550
LS1/Stock LS1 136 184 214 227 229
LS6/Stock LS1 136 186 223 236 241
LS6/Stock LS6 154 204 235 257 263
LS1/Ported LS1 141 185 222 241 251
LS6/Ported LS1 166 211 244 269 277
LS6/Ported LS6 153 202 241 270 280

The article's conclusion was that the best bang-for-the-buck was to use an LS6 intake and ported LS6 Heads.

Any comments?

I would probably agree with the article. But my modified Cartek heads & ported LS6 intake flow 225 & 265 @ 300 & 400 respectively. These are the important lift ranges for the street and real fun!

Seems to be the consensus that the LS6 ported heads are the best bet. I am using the LQ9 heads which are the same as the LS6, but have a larger cc and are more readily available. Good for s/c when you need to lower the static compression a lil.

I will post the flow numbers once they are done. SpeedDemon is doing them. Should take a month or so. They are thier stage IV heads, custom "one off" heads. They should flow big time!

Hey DTSNGIT
How do you know that those heads flow those numbers?? Are they LS1 heads?

Is that with an intake and which one if so?

9D9LS1,

The flow numbers are with LS1 heads and ported LS6 intake. Both came from Cartek but were modified at my local speed shop. Hours of re-working and flow testing were done to get to this point. Although I will say the original numbers were not far off where they are now. Cartek does nice work...
