Default Lowering and which shocks to use

I have a 99 that I plan on lowering about an inch.
I also need shocks and like the C6 Z06 shocks, but i've heard that they shouldnt be used on a lowered car.

Am I safe with these shocks with a 1" lowered ride height?

Get the bisltien Sport instead of C6Z06 eventhough they are nice upgrade but litle taller, and sport bilstien are shorter travel so its the best. Dont have first hand exp but thats what i heard. Search

its actually the wifes daily driver, so comfort comes first.
Im between the C6 Z06 or the Bilstein HD. The Z06 are cheaper and im leaning that route unless the lowering will effect something.

If you lower it too much you will end up on the bump stops of the stock shocks in the back.

If you want to lower it about an inch or less, the stock shocks are fine.

If you want to slam it you are going to have the ride quality of a buckboard when the stock shocks bottom out.

Well, now that the scenario has been established (comfort comes first); suggest leaving all as is.

If it is your wife's car leave it as is!

I had my car lowered and raised it back up using the c6z06 shocks. It is lowered all the way on the front. Bushings are not cut.

The ride is superb and is far superior in value to any aesthetics that I had before with it slammed.

I dont understand. when you say you raised it back up using the c6z06 shocks?

The reason im considering changing, is because there's been squeeking when going through dips etc.... I just figured it was the shocks.
car has 76k on it, driven easy. could this squeeking be something else besides the shocks?

I have a 2000 coupe lowered on stock bolts...Installed the Bilstien sports with C5 Z06 sway bars...the ride & handling characteristics improved dramatically... flat thru corners, no floating over dips and the ride is comfortable and not too harsh at all(IMO)...
The Bilstiens are made for lowered cars as they are slightly shorter...they cost a little more than the C6 Z06 shocks but well worth it in my opinion...

Swaybar bushing is a pretty common culprit. I had a squeak a year or so ago that drove me nuts. It only occured on uneven road surfaces, it turned out that an exhaust hanger bushing needed to be lubed. Isolate the squeak and lube the components.

I've got first hand exprerience and your right. Have the Z51 suspension and could not feel any difference over stock.

I didn't raise with the shocks. I raised it higher because it was slammed to far. At the same time I chose to install the c6zo6 shocks. The car now sits as low as the stock bolts will allow it to be in the front. Bushing are not cut.
