Here is where you can get information about it as well as a demo for your Pocket PC (I think they also make a Palm version).
EASE Diagnostics http://www.obd2.com
I have the demo; however, they only have a "generic" obd2 version for GM vehicles whereas they have extended obd2 versions for Ford and one or two other makes. (Their full-blown PC version has the extended version for GM.) I wonder what info we would see with the extended version that you don't get in the generic version???
Re: << EASE PocketScan (OBD II Scan Tool) for Pocket PC >> (TargaC5)
I'd love to have this setup with a Palm of compatibility. That would beat the crap out of lugging a laptop around. However, I have been told the PocketScan version doesn't support the advanced DTC's like the EASE laptop version. It'd be a great tool though over Autotap.

So, is the enhanced/extended/advanced OBDII version specific to the DTCs, or are there other things too that it wouldn't report concerning our Vettes?
I shot an e-mail off to Ease's support to get some answers, such as if they have a GM enhanced version in the works, would it be a free upgrade to existing "generic" owners w/ GM vehicles, what are the differences between the generic and make-specific versions, etc..
As of a month ago... they were 2-3 months away from releasing the GM enhanced version for PDAs. It would be useful to know if the PDA enhanced version has ALL info the laptop enhanced version has.
BTW, your first few emails to Tech Support will get useless "canned" answers... keep emailing them back, asking for more details and you will get real answers...

I am not sure why you would need this equipment ona c-5 . You already have the DTC analysis on board. well, I guess you can see the parameters of the various technical functions, but you can't do anything about it. The DTC will be displayed if any of the functions go outside their intended parameters and you can acess then through the dash display.Nice toy , but no real purpose unless you have a repair shop..

Not true....
These devices allow you to see the spark timing, fuel injection rates, O2 readings, and knock retard, all useful for intake and exhaust tuning. I have an MAF Translator that lets me tweak the part throttle and WOT airflow input signal to the PCM. The diagnostic TAP lets me see the effect of such tuning.
It can also tell you if your mods are working as intended or if they are hurting Air-Fuel ratio and timing, causing a power loss.
Does anyone know if the hardware (ODB-II Port to RS-232 adapter) is the same from the different vendors? I have a B&B (AutoTAP) adapter. I wonder if it will work with the EASE Palm OS software?????

Charles, I'm going to guess there is something proprietary in the adapter's translation process so that you can't use one vendor's software with another's adapter. Remember, Autotap gives away the software on the website.
