2000 C5 Headlight Issue
I had the standard headlight problem of a stripped nylon gear in the driver's side light. Received the Brass Gear Kit from Mid-America and followed their instructions plus what was posted here in a previous thread in replacing the gear. Evrything went according to directions except for 2 things - First, my motor had no shims or spacers on the gear shaft. As I read where it was important to replace these exactly as they came off, I paid particular attention to this. Secondly, after all was reassembled and the expoy had dried I reinstalled the light in the car. Hooked all the cables up and when I connected the ground on the battery, the light went down with no machine gun sound. Thought great it works! Then tried the lights using the switch - lights came on and up. When turned off, the repaired light went down, then immediately back up but only about half-way. I used the manual **** to put it back down, tried again, same results. Took everything back apart and rechecked all the linkages, etc and all looks good. The second time it didn't stay down when I connected the ground to the battery - went down and then back up about half way. Any ideas???

Bestvettever - thanks for the link - that corrected the problem. I used a single washer the first time and it didn't work, went to 2 and it works like a champ. With all of this I now can remove/reinstall a C5 headlamp assembly in less than 5 minutes! Wonder what the flat rate manual states?
