Default Dimming HUD

I have a 2003 Z06. The HUD seems a lot dimmer than the HUD on my 2002 ragtop. Just wondering if there is something i can do to fix this. Before somebody decides to get smart, the intensity switch is slid to max output. Thanks

Just a thought. There is a light sensor that adjusts the intensity of the HUD depending on the ambient light available. The HUD gets brighter when in bright sunlight. Seems reasonable that if the sensor is really dirty the HUD would adjust the brightness to compensate and really dim it down.

Is that he sensor to the right of the steering wheel or is that the one that is at the bottom of the DIC buttons?

The HUD sensor is inside of the HUD itself. Its at the top center edge facing horizontally forward. The one on my '99 failed and I ended up replacing the HUD itself.

One thing you might try is to slide the dimmer back and forth from max to min a number of times to help clean the contacts.

It seems that the HUD dimmer gets used very little and tends to accumulate dust or whatever that makes the display brightness erratic.

Yes, it's the photo resister circuit that sits inside the HUD box. Since I have it removed at this time; I will bypass the circuit by soldering the connector terminal points on the photo resister circuit board.

How did bypassing the light sensor work? Mine is very dim during the daytime also.
