Anyhow Im in the middle of a new slave, master, and clutch install, man let me tell you I was looking at the pilot bearing and was like how the hell is that coming out. Autozone has a blind bearing puller kit they rent for $140. It came out in like 20 seconds. Just thought Id throw that out there...
oh my god what ever you do, do not pack it with grease and try to reverse hydaulic press it out behind it is a soft plug that will tilt sideways pushing grease and shrapnel into your engine! trust me!

NAPA sells one for $80 that's specific to pilot bearings.
Works like a charm.
it is a trick from the old days. It works very effectively on solid crank cars and it is cheap.
Obviously the "trick" has it's limitations. I guess it pays in the long run, to understand what you are working on, and have the correct service manual for your application.
