Default FYI Pilot Bearing

Anyhow Im in the middle of a new slave, master, and clutch install, man let me tell you I was looking at the pilot bearing and was like how the hell is that coming out. Autozone has a blind bearing puller kit they rent for $140. It came out in like 20 seconds. Just thought Id throw that out there...

Yea, we had to "mod" the puller from autozone and it took 6 pulls to get out.

Reverse hydraulic press?? That's like dropping a nuke to do the work of a hand grenade I'd say whoever pulled that stunt got what they deserved.

NAPA sells one for $80 that's specific to pilot bearings.
Works like a charm.

it is a trick from the old days. It works very effectively on solid crank cars and it is cheap.

Obviously the "trick" has it's limitations. I guess it pays in the long run, to understand what you are working on, and have the correct service manual for your application.

I used the pilot bushing style remover tool and had it out in under 5 minutes. Worked great!

I will get the part number and tool maker tomorrow It works perfect and is only about 3-4 inches long, so it fits inside the bell housing easily.
