Re: How do you expect mods to effect your resale? (wallstAL)
I have had lots of heavily modded cars in my day. You certainly are not purchasing mods to increase the value of your car. Right now, I am only modding my car with equipment that I can take off and sell privately when I decide to sell or trade this Z06 in. If it was a keeper, I would probably go with some hard core modding, but I am lucky if I hang on to one of these cars for over a year.

Yep, I'm with the consensus, mods aren't worth anything on a car. I have modded my car slightly and plan on removing most mods(minus the headers) before I sell the car.

a friend had a 32 ft boat with 2 454 supercharged engines which he could not sell after trying for 2 years. i told him take of the superchargers, put on the carbs that came with the engines and he sold the boat in 10 days.

Like the others have said, having a bunch of mods to the car will usually work to your detriment in selling it. The last two mod’d cars I sold both were taken back to as near stock as possible and then they sold fast, the last one in one day. It is best to save as many appearance parts as possible to return it to it stock appearance. You will rarely get any great returns (on the heads, cam, exhaust etc., you put on a car) from the majority of the buyers unless you find the 1 in a 1000 buyer that is looking for these parts on a car. Best to return it to stock.
Re: How do you expect mods to effect your resale? (Nitrovette)
Well the simple mods like intakes and exhaust are fairly easy to restore to stock (just the expense of the shroud and labor to get the stock parts back on) Remember what a pain it was to get the stock pipes off? ;)
I'm concerned about headers, trannies and gears. Come on, when you get the hots to get a new car who is going to get excited about putting a lot of time and money into the old one :p:

As a side note to the original post, when I was looking at used 'Vettes, I was amazed at the number of women driving a ‘Vette. I could not figure out if it was the old man’s and he bought something else or she wanted it originally. Most of these were pretty bone stock, one previously has some Borla‘s on it but they were taken off when she complained it was too loud! Maybe that is something to think about!!!! When selling your car! teen’s (and car nuts like us) are not bothered by the sound but a bunch of others could care less!
