Looking to replace my front wheel bearing/hub assemblies soon, and have noticed a rather wide range of prices for the bearings:
NAPA - $282.89
GM Parts House - $258.54
Corvette Central - $219.00
Autozone - $162.99
Does anyone know why there's such a difference in price, especially when NAPA is almost twice the price as Autozone? Autozone advertises theirs as being Timken brand, which from what I know, is decent quality.
There's also the alternative. GM Performance Parts makes hub bearings. The bearings are pressed in a little tighter and they use a different grease. The hubs last quite a bit longer than stock

no reason...sell for whatever people will pay...marketing
The front hubs area complete assembly also containg the ABS sensors. It comes all assembled as a unit. The whole thing is held in with 3 Torx bolts and is fairly easy to change. I just changed both of mine since I was fortunate to score new ones for free, if I did it now.
Autozone ones will work if you are doing regular street driving (actually I have used them on my track car since at the time they were throw away items). If you were into AutoX or Road Racing there are some new ones out that will last a long time, but I do not think it is necessary for the street.
Thanks for the replies guys....I think I'll go with the Timkens from Autozone since they're the cheapest, and because my car only sees the streets & highways.
The front wheel bearings only come as a whole hub assembly because they have to be pre-assembled as a unit with the ABS sensors also installed. Thr Rock Auto are also as good as OEM, you are just avoiding all the GM markups.
