This must be a leak through the hatch area. Water will enter into the passanger side and collect in the small storage compartment. Can't see anything obvious.
Re: Water in right side storage compartment??? (Weezle)
I had this very same problem and it is a real pain in the butt. Mine was leaking behind the rear speaker, where the top of the body is bonded to the rear fenders. The wanter enters the car from under the hatch in the little well that is there so the water can run out. Most of the water will run out but some leaks past the seam I meantioned and then runs to the back of the trunk and into the storage bin. I had my trunk tore apart a number of times last year trying to fix this problem. I ended up just using some silicon and re-sealing the seam as good as I could. The problem seems to be about 90% gone but now I think the other side is leaking. I will have to get around to fixing that this spring sometime.

Weezle,
I read an article in a C5 Registry newsletter that stated to check the black screws that connect the rear fascia (visible when the hatch is opened and near the weatherstrip on the horizontal edge of the opening). If there was not enough adhesive applied when the tub was bonded and the screws fastened, it will create a "leak path" into one or more of the rear compartments.
