I noticed the other day the top thin layer of the center console on the drivers side of the emergency brake is peeling off! At first I felt awful thinking I did something to scratch it, but up on further investigation I saw tons of teeny little bubbles that are starting to peel too.
Anyone else have this happen in their car, and more importantly, did the dealership replace it??
Thanks :)
Re: Center console peeling?? Anyone else? (YellowRacer)
Mine is peeling on the driver side center console :mad :mad I will live with it until it gets real bad and then take it to the dealership armed with a sawed-off-shotgun and my large brother-in-law :D

Yep, mine started doing it six months after I got the car and they installed the center console under warranty..I've noticed that it is starting to peel again and will take it in before my warranty runs out in October...

Wow!! A $40K+ automobile and the console peeling?? I am just picturing a towel on it. No thanks. After reading "All Corvettes Are Red", what has that team been up to over the last 5 years? Don't tell me the C6, things like peeling should have been addressed in '98. You go GM!! Nick

A towel?? What does that do?? I don't rest my arm there while I'm driving, so I know it's not peeling from that.
Thanks everyone - looks like my baby needs a trip to the shop .. .. I also need my fuel gauge thingies fixed.

Hmm . . I thought the Sound Installers did that when they installed my system. Thats interesting. GM workmanship strikes again. Good thing I bitched to GM a few months ago about toomany problems with the C5, requesting a 2 yr extention on my warranty. Well I'll have to replace it.

Hey MilYellow02,
I already have a gun but I can borrow that large brother in-law of yours?
BTW Ginny, Nice dog! Did the dealer throw that in with the Vette?
Re: Center console peeling?? Anyone else? (YellowRacer)
Well, you got me to go out and check and so far so good for mine but am sorry to hear about your console. Like your Vette guard. I had to walk past my four legged furry friend and he laid a guilt trip on me so we are off for a walk. Good luck getting your problem fixed. :)
Re: Center console peeling?? Anyone else? (YellowRacer)
Had mine replaced under warranty. The new console does not fit as well as the original. The console is painted with rubber paint. I think the factory may be reconditioning them.
On my other GM vehicles, GM was repainting wiper arms, antennas..etc and using them for warranty repairs. Once your warranty ran out, no more free parts. GM has not figured out how to get paint to stick to wiper blades and arms, mirrors, antennas, mufflers..etc

I'll take a picture either tonight or tomorrow and post it. You'll definitely be able to see where it peels off, but the bubbles may be hard to catch in a picture, but I'll try!
My car is only about 10 months old, so it's been exposed to only 1 summer (granted, a TX summer but it was in the garage alot).
