Im not sure if this is really a problem but it doesn't seem right to me. Im getting a sort of chugging sound when I get on the gas from low RPM's. Its clearly under the hood. I almost want to say its like a sewing machine but I dont want to mislead anyone into thinking its typical. I has all stock internals. Im not sure if it could be an exhaust leak but its like I can hear straight into the engine block. I cant hear whether it goes on higher than about 3K cause its drowned out by my exhaust. It makes my car sound like a beat up '80s Crown vic or something. Help please.
I had that problem with my 96 coupe and it turned out to be the fuel regulator.....your symptoms are exact as mine....I dont know if the c-5 has that.....just my 2 cents
What about the fuel regulator made that noise? I am not noticing any drop in power, or surging. Oh and just to make it more clear. This is only noticable when I am at low rpm's in a higher gear. For example. If I were driving at 30 mph and put it in 4th and hit the gas I would hear it. Almost like a muffled clicking sound. I cant be the first out there to have this....

Sounds very much like pinging to me... high gear and low rpm is when it normally happens.
Any other thoughts. I did some research on pinging and setup a tune. I recently had headers installed and have not yet had it tuned....possible culprit....?
