Default C5 questions new owner

Hello

I just pick up a C5 and have a few questions about the car.
What is the correct torque for the wheel lug nut?
I have been told that the 2001/2002 exhaust system has a much
better exhaust note than the 1997 to 2000 system is this true?

Thank in advance

Paul

The torque specs for the wheel lugnuts is 100 lbs/ft. Make sure to torque them in a star formation and dont just go around the wheel or you may cause rotor warpage.

As for exhausts, I have never noticed any sound difference between the 01/02 exhausts and the 97-00 exhausts. The only difference is that the 01s and 02s have chrome tips. Also pre-cats are standard on all 01-02 C5s which may quiet the system down a bit.

Welcome! I know you will enjoy that car! The lug nuts should be tightened to 100 lbs/ft (or ft/lbs if you prefer). It is best to do it in three steps of 30,60,and 100. I personally use 90, with a little extra push, because I am used to it and have done it for a long time. The 01/02 exhaust note is a LITTLE better, but a lot of C5ers have installed after market systems or A&A pipes. Come back and let us know how that machine is doing..... :) :smash:

Welcome, from your pic it looks like you have the new style wheels on the '97.
The stock exhaust is fairly quiet. Lots of folks change it out.

I don't know of any change in the exhaust. The only stock system that sounds different to me is the '02 Z06 exhaust compared to the '01 and thats because of the deletion of the pre cats.
