High Voltage Issue
I have a 2004 C5. Replaced altenator twice with mexico reman. The car seems to just eat these things up. The last one lasted .25 miles. This all started while driving on road trip and I got the "High Voltage across the DIC. Ofcourse I get the P 1637 code. Just after replacing the altenator and just starting the car without driving everything is cool, but take off and the alarms start going off. Do I just need to pay the $600 and get an OEM altenator? Grounds and Battery Test good...

I once had a 72 Dodge Challenger and it ate re-manufactured water pumps like your alternators. I finally broke down and bought a new water pump from Dodge and I never had another problem with it. I am not sold on re-manufactured auto parts. Every since then I tell my mechanic to use OEM parts only. Check the price at GM Parts Direct, one of the forum supporting vendors, and you might find a better price. Good luck.
