Default Resetting the code for Theftlock stereo system.

I bought my Vette about 3 months ago. Apparently at some point the battery had gone dead or had been disconnected because the stereo was locked out at the dealership. The service department unlocked the stereo but did not tell me what the security code was. I'm going to have an amp installed next week hence the battery will have to be disconnected. Is there a way to reset the code on the vehicle to a number of my choice before the head unit is disconnected so that I won't have to go to a dealership to have the stereo unlocked again? I'll have to drive about 50 miles one way to the dealership I bought it at or pay at another dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is unlocked (no light flashing when ignition off), then there is no code set.
You are now able to enter a code of your choice to set the security feature.
Check your Owners Manual for full details.

It's not locked as to say the radio works right now. The theftlock system is active though. I don't know the code so I don't think I can deactivate it. Is there a way to see what the code is or to change the code?

If the little red light on the radio is flashing, the anti-theft is operational. The
only way I know to unlock, without knowing the numerical code, is by the
dealer. The radio will function if no code is set even if there is a loss of power.

Very silly though. I would think the radio is the LAST thing anyone would
want to steal off of our vette's.

I just purchased my corvette and I am waiting on the owners manual. If anyone could post the procedure for changing the code it would be greatly appreciated!

When you turn on the car, if "loc" is displayed in the radio, you simply enter the codes with the 6 preset tuner buttons. Try "1444". It may work, but no promises :)
