Default A little AC help please.

Ok, I was told that my AC system had some air in it from the last time I had everything apart. So, I took it to the shop to have the system evacuated then to have a vaccum pulled on the system then to have it recharged. Now for some reason my passenger side air vents blow nice and cold and the driver's side blow warm. They all worked well before.. What's going on.?

mine will do that from time to time. It will set a code. I just go in and reset the codes and then it will work fine. Try clearing the codes and see what it does.

Usually, when the driver's side is warm and pass. side is cold, it means your low on freon. You can also try resetting the actuators but most likely its a low charge

Plasticfan has an excellent thread on charging the A/C system. The system is very susceptable to incorrect 134a levels. Follow this thread to check your system's charge.

Another factor could be a bad drivers actuator

Thanks for that link. I had it checked and now everything is great. Just a little low on freon.

Default AC problems

Hi, this is a perfect example as to why some shops are not to be trusted. The op says he took the car that worked well to a shop on someones advice that there was air in the system. After a supposed evac and recharge, the system performed worse that before. After great advice from the cf experts, he had it checked again and found a low refrigerant situation, which was corrected and now works well. No reasonably decent ac shop would make that mistake.
My point is that you need to question recent work when something is not working properly that was just fixed. And try to find the best qualified shops to work on your car, for those that can't diy.
Glad it worked out for the op in the end

Ok, I said before that the AC is fine now. Well, it does blow cold. But a buddy of mine was looking at my motor, and noticed that the High Side AC line was VERY HOT. WTF. That line shouldnt be hot..Should it.?

The high side (discharge) from the compressor should be hot.

Hot enough you can't hold on to it. Especially with high ambient temps outside.

Glad you got it fixed!

Have a good one,

Mike
