Damn it's hot!
Sitting in traffic yesterday and watching the temp gauge get hotter and hotter.
The day before I knew I was going to be in that traffic so I took a good look at the radiator to see if there was anything stuck in there and it was clean and in very good shape.
Earlier this year I had the water pump changed (seal leak), coolent replaced along with Wetter Better and the therm changed to a 180. I also changed the fan to turn on at 190.
That day I was running the A/C and the temp got to 240 even thou both fans were running. I had no knocking, smell of collent or loss of power. This had also happened to me before I had the water pump replaced.
Is it time for an after market aluminum radiator?
I know that they run a little hot but DAMN!
What have you guys (and gals) done to keep your baby cool?

Your sig doesn't show any engine mods, just to make sure, have you done any work to the engine? If both fans are coming on as you say and the water pump is working fine, it might be time for a new radiator. You may want to check the T-stat, sometimes it gets stuck and coolant might not be getting into the system properly.

No mods have been done to the engine except for borlas. The stat was changed from the 195 to the 180 and fans reprogramed to come on sooner because I was having the same problem last summer.
Maybe it's time to take it to a radiator shop and have them flush the system and clean out the radiator. I just hate taking it anywhere that doesn't specialize in Vettes.

I was going to do that but they are really strick on any fluid's, ANY FLUID'S getting on driveways.
I'll start interviewing some radiator shops and take a look at there shops. The cleaner their shops the more apt they will take care in doing their work.

There have been many posts on the forum this summer about this very issue and the dramatic improvements that just cleaning the outside of the radiator has had on the radiators ability to do it's job. That might not be your problem but I would not overlook it before I sprung for a new radiator.
I was tinking of using a small power washer to get in there and clean out the fins before I decided to pull out the rad.
I'll see if I can get my old P/W working today or see if a neighbor has one.
Thanks for the advice.
