Default What could it be?

So I was driving last night and when I step on the gas, it seemed ok in 1st, but when I'd switch to any other gear, 2nd, 3rd, etc, the rpm's would just rev all the way up and the car wouldn't accelerate anymore. Today I just went to take it for a drive, and it won't go in any gear. The RPM's will just rev up, but the car won't move. It's a '99 six speed. Does this sound like a clutch problem, or problem with the transmission? The clutch seems stiff, and does't feel mushy or go all the way to the floor when you push it. Any ideas on what to check for, or if it could be something simple? Thanks.

Sounds like clutch. Pretty unusual symptoms unless you are getting oil on the disk.

Getting any funny smells when you rev it in gear?

Sounds like a clutch problem to me. I would check hydraulic system first to make sure it is actually disengaging the clutch properly. From the description of how the clutch pedal feels, it could be something with the hydraulic system too.

When I was driving it yesterday, I did smell something, almost like maybe a burning smell or something. What would I check for in the hydraulic system? I checked the fluid in the clutch cylinder and it's full. Do I need to start pulling it apart and replace the clutch, or is there something easier I can check first?

Time for a new clutch. Do a flywheel also because I bet it looks like a rainbow. And a new slave cyl. No need for a remote bleeder, don't let them fool you an aftermarket slave will be a self bleeder!

Only a fool would install a new slave on a C5 without a remote bleeder.

Any recomendations on what type of clutch to go with? It's a '99 Lingenfelter twin turbo, 500 hp. I'm thinking I should go with something heavier duty than stock. Any recomendations? I bought the car back in Jan. and have only drove the car for maybe a month. The person I bought it from said the slave cylinder was just replaced, wonder why they didn't replace the clutch as well if that's what's wrong with it. Wouldn't it have looked bad when they had it apart to do the slave? I don't think I could have wore it out in the little that I drove it since I got it.
