I just got my car back from West Coast Corvette and my ride issue is finally fixed. These are the same coilovers that breathless performance sells but West Coast sells them for $1295.The ride is night and day from what it was.The car was bouncing all over the place with the Z51 springs and bilstein sport shocks. The ride is much smoother and doesnt bounce, all the suspension travel is back in the car.Craig at West Coast had the front coilovers custom made even shorter for increased suspension travel. The final measurements are 25 1/4" up front and 25 3/4" in rear.I will have to raise the rear a little because they are rubbing with the increased suspension travel.Craig worked me out a GREAT deal.He even refunded my money for the bilsteins since they didn't work.Craig sat down with me over an hour and went over everything in detail.I'm very, very comfortable with craig and there very clean operation.I'm a mortgage broker by trade and have no work ties with them.I just like to give praise where its due.I have never worked with a tuner that has taken this much time out to solve an issue for suspension that is not a normality,I've owned 5 corvettes now and spent WELL over 30k on aftermarket products. If any of you guys with slammed cars and ride issue's let me know.I am very happy with my new ride and West Coast Corvette's. Thanks again Craig.
Yes. I had the car so low there was no suspension travel. The bilstein is the same length as the Z51 shock. They would have been fine if the car wasnt so low.
Vettethret,
Can I ask you a few questions;
So did they remove the stock springs? Are the coil overs a complete suspension change over?
I've asked this question many times and nobody has responded.
How do they mount, are there any other bushings or brackets needed?
What was the total cost for coil over shocks and installatoin?
Thanks,
Tim
C54Tim,
Well since I grew up right next to you in folsom I feel that a fast awnser is in order. The coil overs completely replace the factory springs.I also changed my sway bars out to hotchkis. The coil overs are completely adjustable. My car is lowered just over 3.5" over stock. The primary reason I put them on is for the ride and the fact that I can lower the car lower than the springs will allow. It also eliminates the cross talk that comes through the factory spring, the car is truly and independent set up now. They mount to the existing shock mounts with a tiny bit of modification from what I'm told. The coil overs cost $1295 from West Coast Corvette and they only charged me $250 to install them. The coilovers come with all the hardware that is needed. The car is so slammed it's not supposed to handle optimally where it's out.I was told by guldstrand it handles best 1" lowered from stock. What I can tell you is that I can feel my internal organs shift and loss of breath as I take an off ramp at speed.I Highly recommend spending the money on this set up, it's unbelieveable. This is now my second corvette with coil overs and the difference from stock is truly astounding. Hope this helps Tim.
Good to see you solved your prob. FWIW, you can change the mounting position of your Z51 or Billstein shocks to recover some of the travel. Cutting the bump stops .5" can increase travel that much as well for other less expensive options for others.
C54TIM:
Love the pic, but can you make it a little smaller? Messes up the margins of the thread.
Vettethret,
Thanks for the quick responce! You told me everything I needed to know!
As for the pic I apologise, I can't seam to get adobe to reduce it no matter what I do! I'll take it off!
Thanks again!
Tim
After driving the car I'm very happy. The ride does seem a bit soft though.Has anyone else seen this on the breathless setup.Or is it because Im use to no suspension travel.
