Whistle sound during acceleration after Vortex install
After I installed my Vortex I noticed that I hear a whistling sound as I initially tap the gas (Sitting still or while moving). I think it might be coming from the air tube that is now mounted on the outside of the box. Has anyone else had heard this? If so what is the fix. I did see that someone had fitted the small filter back into the box. I may do that but I want to make sure I'm not missing someting. FYI I did change the air bridge and removed the MAF screen at the same time as the Vortex install.
Re: Whistle sound during acceleration after Vortex install (Thommy21)
I have done the exact same thing as you regarding the Maf screen and Vortex.
Yeah, I hear the same exact thing you are referring too with mine. It is coming from the air tube. It doesn't bother me much but that's because I can't hear it over my Cam, Headers, and Flowmasters..... :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Re: Whistle sound during acceleration after Vortex install (Thommy21)
You may have over tightened the connections. This can cause some air leaks and whistleing. I would suggest you check all the connections before messing around with other more complicated issues
Re: Whistle sound during acceleration after Vortex install (Thommy21)
I think the whistling sound is normal for the Vortex, but not if it is very loud
whistling that is constant all the time. I have driven 53,000 miles and the same low whistling sound only at initial acceleration ever since I installed it.

That's also been noted as being a throttle body/intake manifold (forgot which) whistle. Something about having the part shared with the Camaro/Firebird and the presence of a chamber that applies to those models, but not the Vette.
When you open up the intake, you tend to hear it. I did as well when I had a Vortex installed. One member used an epoxy to eliminate the noise, but I would not recommend that approach. I believe another had a 2002 throttle body/manifold installed to eliminate the noise. Don't recall seeing a part number. I only recall seeing one case where this was done. The dealer is not likely to act on this, since an aftermarket intake is involved.
