Default ODBC Scanner Recommendation?

I posted this on OT, but since this is a technical forum, what are you guys using for your “other” car to get error codes?

I’m tired of hitting up autozone for the use of an ODBC scanner. Can someone recommend a good scanner in the $200 range?

If you just want to read/clear codes-you already have one built into the car via the DIC (Go to the Tech Tips to see how to read them). I use autoenginuity for the other cars or if I want to take control/graph things on the Vette.

The low cost scanners only give you powertrain info so they are somewhat limited. With the quantity of electronic systems on new cars powertrain problems are your least concern. AutoEnginuity has about the cheapest near full capability scanner software but you still have to provide the PC.

Not in the Jeep, the truck, or the wife's Expedition! I'll check out autoenginuity.

Thanks

If you only want to spend $200, you'll have to get an Actron (or one like it). The "cheaper" ones typically ONLY do GENERIC OBDII, not manufacturer specific codes (which all cars have some).
