Intermittent C1812 DTC
I just started getting an intermittent VSES malfunction DTC. Sometimes comes on as soon as I turn the wheels. Sometimes only after several miles, other times not at all in a ten minute drive.
I also have had intermittent horn function for the last 18 months or so.
The intermittent horn started about 6 months after I had the turn signal stalk replaced and I thought the horn issue was related to pulling the wheel but then the horn started working after I had the car up on stands working on the front suspension and changing coolant, which included rinsing the chassis to remove glycol residue.
It seems like the horn may be a ground issue, but I can't say the same about the VSES code.
I have the Helm manual but am convinced it was laid out by some spawn of the Marquis de Sade because it is all but impossible to find info because there seems to be absolutely no logic or continuity of text placement. What that means in this case is that I'm not sure if there is a ground for the VSES sensor common to the horn or not.
Anyone have a clue? For those who had the C1281 code, what was the cause and what fixed it? I found all the posts on the code and what it means but wonder what common thread there may be to the fault codes.
