Oil drain plug torque spec?
Does anyone have the torque specification for the Vette LS1 oil drain plug? I'm a bit worried about stripping it because of the aluminum pan threads but then again I don't want to tighten it too lightly either. Last oil change I may have over tightened. Anyone found out the hard way how strip sensitive these are?
thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom! You are correct to be concerned about over-tightening these things. I am not home at the moment so I can't get the torque figures for you. I just turn until it seems to seat and them give it a little extra push; probably less than a quarter turn. :yesnod:

Remember, there's no oil pressure in the oil pan, so just tighten it enough to stay on. There's not going to be anything "pushing" from behind the plug, so it's not really a big deal. If you are forcing it, it's too tight. ;)
