Default No PCV on the "04???

During a recent "tune up", I picked up a pcv valve and can't find the location of the existing one! Checking out a multitude of searches, it seems that there are several arrangements including "no pcv" but a fixed orifice.
Can someone confirm the situation with the "04 C5? I see where the tube curls up into the passenger side behind the throttle body, but there is no pcv valve there. Thanks

from everything Ive heard, The 04s had the fixed orphice to improve oil consumption issues. There would be no need to a PCV if you had the fixed orphice..

Does your line come from the valley covers to the side of the manifiold behind the throttle body?

If answered by many in this forum; get ready.

There is crankcase ventilation; just not a 'valve' as in other/older cars. Keep it the way the factory intended.

Thanks for the comments. I think I know a pcv when I see one, and here I don't. The passenger side valve cover features a vent to the throttle body upper housing, as well as plumbing running around the rear of the engine to the driver side with associated plumbing. I don't intend to modify this arrangemen, just looking to replace the valve if it had one.

Not sure about the 04's, but the 02's have the PCV located on the rear of the driver side valve cover.

My 04 Z didn't have one either.. and it was bone stock when I got it. I don't think the previous owner even knew HOW to open the hood.

let's clarify this, in 2004 the LS1 started to use the SAME valley cover as the 01-04 Z06/LS6 motors........

ALTHOUGH, the 'U' tube that connects the valley cover to the RHS of the intake does not use a pcv valve IIRC

the mess of vent tubes that ran from the LHS valve cover to the RHS vc was also omitted, just like the LS6 setup

you will find a plug in the aft LHS vc

this is a 2004 ONLY LS1 change

you'll also notice the 2001 LS6 air intake, has the small 'slit' opening in the box cover

the O2 sensors also use the newer style LS2 connectors, just some of the '04 only changes

Yes! Thanks all! One less thing to worry about. Anyone want a new pcv valve (haha)?

Would putting a oil catch can on a 04 help or is it a wast of time and money?
Thanks

I've got to ask the original poster, how did you select the PCV for your '04 tuneup? The books/computer wouldn't show it and there's obviously dozens of various configurations.

As to the waste can question above, I installed one from ELITE ENGINEERING (site supporting vendor) on my '04 Z16. My driving style doesn't really need one according to some opinions when the same question was asked in the past.

I installed one anyway. I remove less than an ounce with every PM service on the car, about once a year. It might not justify it to some, but it's an ounce of oil not going into the intake.

I wound up getting the pcv valve along with an oil filter, etc. as noted in the Fram general look up book at Autozone...go figure!

The statement in red above is not totally true, as the LS6 also went with the fixed orifice setup in 2004 (previously it had the external valve between the valley cover and intake manifold) ... so all LSx engines have the same PCV configuration in 2004 and beyond.
