I have a 99 auto coupe with the 2.73 rear. Warranty goes out next month. Need some advise on performance mods (shop doing the work). Would like to spend 3 to 4K only. Thanks!!!!!!
Re: Best performance mods for around 3K (KC in Dallas)
Those gears have to go. You won't really feel any other mods until you get some 3.42 in the rear. With left over money probably an intake, torque converter, and transgo shift kit (heard good things on the forum). The exhaust can wait for later because it isn't really going to give you any hp/tq. Good luck!
Re: Best performance mods for around 3K (MelloYellow)
Just remember that you should do the gears and the T/C at the same time. The labor for the whole thing is only about $50 more. New gears cost around $950, used approx. $500. A Torque Converter will cost approx. $550 - $750 new. Installation of both could run between $500 - $1000. After these mods I would do some sort of bottom breather for air intake like Vortex or the Tric unit. You may also have to do some sort of re-programming based upon what you do for a T/C. This could cost another $500. Sounds like this will spend the 3K.
