Default A4 Remove-Install

I may need to replace my tranny for issues listed here > http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20044.

Just wanted to see what I'm getting into first.

I have searched and seen some people remove the torque tube and some don't. I have a 2-post lift and I want to do it right but I also don't want to waste a lot of time doing thiings that I don't need to do.

Thanks for your input.

No you dont have to remove the TT to remove your A4.
But I'm wondering why you think it needs to be replaced, run your car at 60 mph in 3rd gear and note the engine rpm then publish it here on the forum.
I'd bet you dont have 2.73 gears in the rear.

3rd gear at 60 mph is 2050-2100 rpm.

That's a 2.73.

I thought the 1 to 1 ratio (3rd gear in A4 & 4th in M6) matched your engine rpm and rear gear ratio at the speed of 75mph.

Far as pulling the TT with the trans, I think it is easier if your LT headers aren't in the way. If you have to remove your LT headers than I would leave the tt in.

Sounds like your trans needs rebuild, if it's slipping and bouncing off the rev limiter before it shifts.

I recommend RPM Transmissions for the rebuild.

Yeah I'm coming to terms with that.

I can't afford RPM right now so I guess she will sit for a while. I'm only 150 miles from RPMs shop too. Damn, Damn, Damn...

Don't think you will do better than RPM and their install price is reasonable. I would recommend that they do the whole job!

You definitely do not need to drop the torque tube. I just replaced the torque converter and I didn't even consider dropping the torque tube.

You can't beat $300 for that install. For that money it's not worth getting dirty. Plus they said the only need the car for 6 hours.

The wife found some change laying around so I'll be driving up to see my new best friends at RPM in the AM.
