Vortex or Hurricane?
After seeing the blunder GM made with their stock intake system on the C5 I decided to go with either the Vortex or Hurricane.
I know that the Vortex needs me to cut a 4" x 6" hole in the fan shroude but does anyone know how the Hurricane get's it's air?
I really like the Hurricane's design especially if you paint it body color, that's why I got one. It draws ONLY cold air from the outside. The only issue with it is that it's a pain to get the filter out to clean... where as the vortex is very easy to get at the filter.
it is that it's a pain to get the filter out to clean...

You sure got that right. Completed my first cleaning and it took about 15 minutes to get it out thanks to some helpful advice, 30 minutes to clean the filter, 24 hours to dry and then oil, and about 30 minutes to put back in. Trouble is, had to get under the car for some of the removal and installation.
It is fine, but it sure is a pain.
It looks great in carbon fiber with a carbon fiber duct.

That carbor fiber looks sweet! $$$
The cleaning of it sucks although after removing the stock air box and fan shoude it didn't seem that hard. (I pulled the fan shroude to clean the radiator to help eliminate some excess engine heating).
Not that bad but not as easy as just pulling the stock air filter out.
