my dealer told me the only way to program them was to bring them in. Of course, they might not have known their heads from their asses

Check your manual, it tells all.
You have to go into set up mode............

From my manual:

1) Turn ignition to ON
2) Clear any DTC codes by pressing reset
3) Press OPTIONS on DIC until you get to a blank page. Hold Reset for two seconds.
4) When FOB TRAINING is displayed, press RESET button once. The message HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed.
5) Hold lock and unlock on the first fob for five seconds.
6) DIC should say FOB LEARNED
7) Repeat 5-6 for other transmitters

Fivo,
You may need to have your fob replaced. My fobs would do the same thing along with doors locking and unlocking on their own even though I had the passive turned off. No problem since I got new fobs!

If you need to replace your fobs, check out ebay first. I picked one up for $31.00. You just have to make sure that the numbers on the back of the fob you are buying match the numbers on your existing fob. Then just program it according to the manual instructions. If you want, email me and I'll send you the name of the person I got mine from.

I believe that this is the procedure to train the car on which FOB is #1, #2, #3 for the memory package. I have just held the lock and unlock buttons until the beep when removing the battery.

My key FOB acted up then stopped working. Got a new battery. Followed procedure from manual - as above. Works like a charm :)

Hi all,
Fivo Killer, I have the same problem with my FOB. I don't know what's up with it, but I'm going to go try the retrain deal. I was told when I posted a similar question months ago to clean the contacts where the battery touches them inside the FOB and also MAKE SURE the contacts are ACTUALLY touching the battery inside the FOB. I think when they start doing this, the circuit boards inside are fried. Time for a new $100 piece of plastic :mad Maybe it's just been dropped one too many times like mine. :(

Do you have another FOB? You might try a different one to make sure that the car is ok. If so, then it's probably the battery in your FOB.

Follow the instructions that were typed from the manual. It works - I had to program a FOB this past weekend, and I followed the procedure in the manual. As they often say, RTFM! :D
