While traveling through northern Indiana last weekend I ran into heavy rain. I was on a detour that had several areas of standing water on the road. I made it through a couple, but ran into one that hydro-locked my engine. It also suffered internal damage, a hole in the block and a probable broken rod. Can anyone recommend a quality repair shop in the southern Michigan area to repair my engine?

Man,,, I would slow to crawl speed in 6" of water. Sorry about the problem.
Check with your insurance. Many companies consider this unavoidable and cover is under your Comprehensive. Do a search here. Several folks have ended up with 427's because of hydrolock.

Good Luck.
I agree, Call your insurance. Sorry, But the water had to be really deep, Wasn't there other cars going through it so you could tell if you should or not?
As said before, No repair, New motor time.
For the water to get into your intake it had to be over a foot deep. unless you went through it really fast.
Just pull the whole unit out and pick one of these. Warranty, and you don't have to worry about the local wrench and how long his work will last.
Happy shopping! http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/Pa...l.jsp?engine=2
HE NEEDS A SHOP TO GET HIS CAR REPAIRED, anyone NOT understand that?
Okay the engine isn't repairable some of you have mentioned. It doesn't matter if he's replacing the motor or trying to get it fixed he would take it to the same kind of shop.
Anyone know of a shop in Michigan???
Sorry you aren't local to KC Bert as I would have you put your Z on my lift and we would fix it ourselves.
I appreciate everybody’s response. I realize it is not repairable, but I still need it fixed some how. I would like nothing better than to put in a create engine. When it comes to changing the engine I don’t have the provisions. I am working with my insurance company and they want to know what the extent of the damage is. Several parts can be purchased for the price of a new engine and the insurance company is looking for the cheapest fix.
In the four hours I sat by the side of the road, every car made it through the water except me. I was going slow. My intake just managed to suck up enough water to do the damage.
I suggest you post your request for a repair shop in the Great Lakes section of the Forum. There are a lot of Vette owners in your area who could help you out.
Hopefully, your insurance company will cover most of your loss.
