I've never had a car worth dyno'ing before, so this will be my first time. I wanted to get it done before I add the x-pipe and Indy's. I don't expect a whole lot of change, but I'm curious. So are there any things to look out for or questions to ask? Thanks for the help, as I am a mods/performance newbie.

It's kinda hard to watch the first time someone else is running YOUR car all the way to the rev limiter  Make sure they graph the A/F ratio for you it's a good tuning tool. Afterwards, you'll need to clear DTC codes, the computer gets confused being dyno'd. It's really eye opening to see how much higher the LS1's dyno than most earlier motors, the C5 really does have a great motor. (No insults intended for the LT4 and LT5 guys, but the LS1/LS6 motors do put out some power, bone stock.)

make sure that the oil temp is as high as possible,200 degrees is the best. if you are going to make comparison tests record the water temp, oil temp, air temp, humidity, and tire air pressure as these all effect the HP readings.

Thanks for all the info. I'm stoked. I was wondering what price range I should expect to pay. A local shop (Lee's Performance) qouted me 75 bucks if I do a before and after. 100 bucks if I just do it once. Is that about right?

How many pulls for $100? The $100 should cover at least 2 pulls at the same time.

100 bucks covers 2 pulls, sorry for the confusion. I'm getting it done twice though, before Indys/X-Pipe installation and after. I don't expect a whole lot of gain, but thought that it may be interesting.

yeah enjoy your wheels turning at a high mph while your car is sitting still  --mine turned 181mph before I hit the revlimiter--course I have the A4

1st time I dyno'd I got 3 pulls for $95 on a Dynojet dyno but no A/F measurement.
2nd time I dyno'd I got 2 pulls for $75 and A/F measurement. This was on a Mustang dyno and everyone complained about the low numbers.
Make sure you note the correction factor. on my print outs it recorded ambient temperature, vapor pressure, and absolute barometric pressure. I supose these factors determine the correction factor, although I though altitude had something to do with it also.

What ever happened? Were the numbers so bad we don't hear? Inquiring minds want to know!

Be sure to ask the shop how many watts per HP they are using. SOme shops have this set at 700 Watts per HP. (THS IS WRONG!) They do this to get more business! It should be 746 or you will get high readings. :yesnod:

Sorry fellas for being a slacker, I haven't got it dyno'ed yet. I had work emergencies, you know guys know the drill. Work always seems to get in the way of my fun. Anyway, I decided to go ahead and get the X-pipe and Corsa Indy's installed yesterday at More Performance. I'm going to call Lee's today to see if I can schedule something for Saturday.
pureza123 - I've never worked with them before, More Performance shop recommended them to me. More Performance did a great job on my Corsa install so I'm hoping their recommendation will work out. I'll email you afterwards with my thoughts on them. There is another shop in Belmont that the guys at More Performance mentioned, but I don't remember the name.
