Default Stupid coolant flow question:)

Not at my car to look at it...

Is the water flow direction from the top of the radiator to the bottom, or from the bottom to the top?

I guess I need to clarify...does the water go in the bottom hose and out the top hose, or in the top hose and out the bottom?

Located in your service manual......

The water pump draws the coolant from the radiator. The coolant is then circulated through the cooling jackets in the following components, then back to the radiator to be cooled:

The cylinder heads
The engine block
The throttle body
The engine coolant is drawn from the water pump and circulated through internal passages in the cylinder heads and engine block. Vapor is vented off through the coolant air bleed pipe. The heated coolant is then directed back to the radiator. A separate coolant flow loop is available from the coolant pump to the heater core and back to the coolant pump to provide passenger compartment heat and defrost.

The radiator surge tank provides a coolant fill point and a central cooling system air bleed location. The tank is translucent on the lower half for coolant level viewing.

dang funny way not to answer the guy

the old chevy's water pumps use to suck it from the bottom. but gm stole the reverse flow idea, whole nuther story lawsuit is still pending
but now water pump sucks it from the top and it does cool better

but i am no mechanic and i have been wrong before and will be again

So what's funnier, the answer I provided right out of the service manual, or the fact you think reverse cooling means you suck coolant from the top of the radiator? Check your LT1 history books.....

By the way, the LS1/LS6 engines do not employ reverse cooling.
