Problem with HVAC
The auto. HVAC dial face is dark and cannot be read the fan and defroster switches are working / If I can recall the auto control is set on 74 deg. the air seems to be blowing that temp. but can not move temp up or down / can it be the control unit or the sunload temp senor / burned out bulbs ?? any ideas??? this can become expensive // if it is the control unit does anyone have one for sale?? also my 2000 only has 28700 mile and this is the third problem with this veh. the headlight gears were bad / no big deal $40 buck 2 Hrs / now the CD does not work / the HVAC system is dark and can't be read and not working properly. had a 64 5yrs / 66 15yrs / 96 5yrs / and this one for 6 yrs/ and other than maintenance items, no problems // thought they got better as we went along. The dim or no display on the dual zone HVAC controler is a common problem. There are 6 resistors on the power supply circuit board that have bad solder joints. If you are electronically inclined you can fix this your self or take it to a local electronic repair shop.

AC Problem with Control Unit
Hi, it sounds like your control unit is toast. There are guys on here that rebuild them, or GM Partshouse.com, and there are usually rebuilt ones on ebay. Opt for a post 2001 unit as they have added components and better programming to cope with some problems on the early units.
