I posted this in the drag racing section a few days ago and haven't gotten a responce, so I figured I'd try it here
I'm taking my 04 6 spd coupe to the strip the first time this week and need some pointers. Other than Z06 exhaust it's totally stock. I know not to bother with a burnout (stock GY runflats) and to turn the traction control off. Two things I don't know is what RPM to launch at and where to shift.
Don't just turn off traction control,,Hold it longer to get "COMPETITIVE DRIVING" mode! Takes traction control OFF,,leaves stability control ON. Might keep you off the wall,,but you can still spin the tires. A big burn out is a waste,, a little spin to "clean them off " dosen' hurt. I shift just as the needle is getting to/touching the 6000 mark. Doing this I've managed a 13.08/110.23 at St. Louis,in a stock 2000 FRC (only Blackwing, stock H pipe, and Corsa Touring) on stock GY Runflats. Front 39lbs rear 25lbs. Look up the Ranger Fan trick,,,keeps both fans running(rt one runs even when parked

haha, I like how you mention the car being stock, then immediately follow it by adding that the car has an intake and exhaust.

An air filter and muffler has no effect on the motor and drive train being stock. The entire fuel, computer intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, cats,H pipe and so on are still stock!! Just ask ANYONE here (except maybe the noobies) and you will hear that filters like K&N, Blackwing and that type and cat back mufflers do not make much of a difference(the vararam intake is an exception here it will get you a tenth of a second or two). So YES it's still stock,,,no headers, cam, head, computer tune, drag radials and on and on,,it's stock! The only place it wouldn't be completely stock would be is a NCRS judging!!
