For the second time in 3 years the orange blub went out. I can't get my hand down the headlite way so I take off the front wheel and get to it from underneath. I take out the blub, put it back in and it works! What is going on here? Anybody else have this problem?
you cannot get your hand in there if you take off the black bezel surround??
if thats the case take the hood stop out and that will give you more room.
also mine do that alot but I have aftermarket lights...no clue why

From what you describe it seems to be an electrical contact problem. (Bulb good - unplug & reinstall bulb - working again)
The contact problem can be the socket to bulb contacts, the socket to wire harness contact, or less likely a wire problem a short distance from the socket.
Most likely bulb to socket contacts. Use a spray contact cleaner on the socket contacts AFTER insuring that the little contacts are tight to the bulb.
Its easy to get your hand it in there if you do two things first. Remove the headlamp bezel then remove the hood adjuster. Most guys arms will fit through there easily. Not all of course. As stated above, the lamp contacts are probably dirty and causing resistance issues which turn the contacts into little heaters which destroy the connections.
Ya, I don't know how you guys get your arms in from the top, not even close for me.
Anyway, to the OP, try putting some dielectric grease on the bulbs electrical contacts. You may have some moisture getting in there that is causing the short bulb life. Put a pretty good amount so that it stays for a while.

I had the same problem before I replaced the OEM with the Clear.
The OEMs get cracks on the top of them from the heat of the bulb.
I repaired mine by removing them and coating the top with silicone. Keeps the moisture from getting in and touching the hot bulb which blows it.
Once that was done I glued a small 3/4 x 3/4 inch pice of mirror directly above where the bulb sits. It reflect the light and keeps the plastic cooler.
I also put a small container of dessicant (they come in the bottles with medicines) in each lens with a tiny spot of shoe goop (sneaker repair glue) to hold it in place. Now any condensationin the lens is non existant. Replaced the bulb and the lens and that was three years back. Also lubed the bulb socket with dielectric. I know it sounds time consuming but it really works out great.
