Kick them tires!!
I wouldn't run them in the rain if I had my rathers, but the deeper 8/32's tread would help that to an extent, but they really aren't designed to perform as well as other rain tires esp on the street. I really have to slow down or I'll hydroplane when on the road and there's any standing or significant amount of water. Driving the crown of the road helps that, but do you want to be compromised like that? I would look at toyo t1R which from my experience were remakable in the wet and dry on the track for a street tire. They'll take you all the way up into the advanced level hpde's.
Unfortunately, what I found out was deep tread would overheat on the track depending what level your running at the schools. THis compromises the tread life as far as being a good sticky track tire, then your compromised on how good they are in the rain on the street. I have 2 sets of tires and wheels, and really that's the only way to go once your past a certian level on the track.
What front tires are you going with? Is tough to mix and match compounds.
What level of hpde or racing? Where do you live? What type of HP and what track level are you at?.... Supplying this info and/or filling out your profile would help.
